La Mexcalina Bio...
La Mexcalina is a Mexican group of "Mexican Psychofolkabilly" based in Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico. Born when Jazz Díaz on rhythm guitar and vocals, Edd Díaz on bass and Fernando Briones on drums prepared a tribute to Jhonny Cash and Elvis Presley, driven by these influences and the need to create their own sound and identity that allowed them to express themselves, they began to compose their first song “La Voz y tu recuerdo” and founded “La Mexcalina” in July 2012 and in 2014 Raul Cruz joined the band on the main guitar, perfectly completing the sound of La Mexcalina.
Under this alignment they have recorded three studio albums "La Mexcalina" in 2015, "El Cardenchero" in 2018 and their most recent record production "Donde Los Muertos Bailan" in 2019.
The lyrics of their songs are deep and loaded with Mexican meaning and identity, their greatest inspiration at the time of creation is Mexico, its culture and traditions, its sounds and its history, music on the other hand is nourished by various influences of both music Mexican as a foreigner. The sound of La Mexcalina, is its own, fresh, strong and full of identity, folklore and Mexican tradition, in its songs we can appreciate a rich fusion between genres of traditional Mexican music with other genres such as psychobilly, and rock. A strident drummer with an explosive rhythm, a double bass loaded with slap and figures that break the rhythm in a subtle and elegant way, an electric guitar full of distortions and powerful solos, another electro-acoustic guitar that makes harmonic base with a percussed rhythm loaded with roll-ups of Son Jalisciense that flirts with the rhythms of the country, and the final seal, a voice of Mariachi, deep, multifaceted, feminine and powerful, are the sounds that together create the “Mexican Psychofolkabilly” of “La Mexcalina”, his music, full of contrasts and rich in roots, with strong songs that unexpectedly fill up with subtle and delicate nuances, it will make you feel in Mexico no matter from which part of the world you listen to them.
